I took this in HK 2006. It's hard to get me on a bus.
I still really need convincing to this day. It's from school days trudging through the rain and damp hoping not to miss the bus and having to wait another half an hour in the rain for the next one. I think of the stench of stale cigarettes absorbing into me for the whole day ahead, the heavy coins in my pocket for my lunch often spilling from my pockets to the floor littered with muddy puddles. Then there was the girl I was too shy to talk to. The kids that always wanted to fight, the bullies and the bullied and me sitting away from it all dreaming of summer.
Why I took this picture is what I
felt at that very moment and imagine to this day. The man and the woman on the opposite buses are falling in love. I hope eventually they get on the same bus in the same direction and live happily ever after but for now in this picture they just think of each other or she actually looks kind of angry. How many times have they passed each other like this?
